Pipeline & Talent Management Initiative

The Annual Mid-Level Managers’ Symposium (MLMS), supported by founding and continuing lead sponsor the PepsiCo Foundation, and recently co-sponsored by The Principal Financial Group and ING, helps African-American corporate mid-level managers develop the professional, personal, and intellectual skills necessary to excel in the corporate arena. Panels comprised of The Executive Leadership Council members, CEOs, and other leaders engage in dynamic, open discussions and learning activities, moderated by experts in the field of executive leadership development and diversity management. To date, more than 8,000 mid-level managers have participated in this program.

The NextGen Network was founded in 1999 and is a 501 (c)(3) supporting organization comprised of mid-career managers, graduate and undergraduate winners of The Executive Leadership Council competitions and of young African-American professionals who qualified for Professional Class Membership. NextGen Network members receive leadership coaching and mentoring from The Executive Leadership Council members, professional development training, corporate leadership opportunities, and exposure to the business world. The organization also gives back by mentoring and providing scholarships to high school students. Prudential Financial is the Lead Sponsor of NextGen Network, which has been generously supported in the past by companies such as BP, New York Life Insurance Company, Sprint Nextel Corporation, Food Lion, and Entergy.

The Tulsa Project:
The Council's Involvement with a Historic Initiative
New York – Survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Riots gave voice to a little-known and shameful chapter of history before hundreds of African American leaders from business, politics and media at the New York premiere of “Before They Die,” a documentary produced by Reginald Turner, CEO of Mportant Films, and Harvard Law Professor Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. The film is part of The Tulsa Project, a nonprofit foundation to raise awareness of the event and seek restitution for its survivors.
