On Monday, Oct. 19th United Continental Holdings, Inc. (UAL) named ELC Member Brett J. Hart acting CEO, effective immediately. Mr. Hart assumed the role in the wake of UAL CEO Oscar Munoz going on medical leave, following a heart attack he suffered last week.

With the recent appointment of Mr. Hart, currently there are six Fortune 500 black CEO’s:

  • Ken Frazier, Merck
  • Ken Chenault, Amex
  • Ursula Burns, Xerox
  • Roger Ferguson, TIAA-CREF
  • Marvin Ellison, JC Penney
  • Brett Hart, United (Interim/Acting)

Mr. Hart became a member of The Executive Leadership Council in Winter 2013 while in the role of EVP, General Counsel of United Continental Holdings.
