The ELC celebrates Shirley Chisholm Day! The life of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress and the first woman to seek the Democratic presidential nomination will now be celebrated on Nov. 30. The New York City Council recently passed a resolution designating the day as “Shirley Chisholm Day” to honor the Bedford-Stuyvesant resident and political pioneer. The

The WIAA Executive Board is excited to announce Tara Davis as its first Black woman to join the state’s governing body for its junior high and high school sports programs. Davis’s leadership was forged through competition throughout her career as well as the life lessons she acquired during her journey.

The Executive Leadership Council’s UK Convening, held during the UK’s Black History Month—was a tremendous success and a time to honor the profound contributions of Black leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
